Ask almost any parent with a child with special needs and they will tell you respite is their number one need. Respite simply means a short period of rest or relief. Every parent needs regular breaks to recharge, connect with loved ones, and gain strength to be the best parent possible. With parents and caregivers of children with special needs this is critical because the level of care and stress and physical strain on the body is intensified and, in some cases, constant. One of the goals of Special Dreams for Special Kids is to provide times for parents to get respite. And while the parents get a break, we provide a fun and safe environment for the kids to explore art, story-telling and music.
